When Are You Due?
The most common question for expectant moms is ‘when are you due?’ It’s an easy conversation starter and almost natural response to a pregnancy. It’s also one of the more burning questions for the expectant mom and/or couple.
Determining this date can be as easy as plugging dates into a due date calculator. However, the accuracy of your information is important if the date is to be more than a broad estimate. You’ll need to know the first day of your last menstrual period and the normal length of your cycle. If you don’t know either of these dates, you might come up with a wider range of dates that can be narrowed down once you receive prenatal care.
Based on several events, a pregnancy due date calendar can be set up. During your prenatal care, an ultrasound taken in the first half of the pregnancy is an indicator of the fetus’ age, also the date you first feel movement, fundal height (a measurement of the uterus taken throughout the pregnancy) and fetal heart tones. These factors combined are the basis of your pregnancy due date calendar. However, remember these are still estimates.
